Basslock® MP Louver
High-performance acoustic louver for technical and industrial installations
The BASSLOCK® MP LOUVER acoustic system is a high-performance acoustic louver capable of achieving attenuation levels of up to 25–35 dB in the 40–250 Hz range, one of the most critical bands in HVAC and ventilation systems. It has been developed for integration into HVAC systems, enabling effective compatibility between airflow passage and a high level of noise emission control. Its design is intended for use as an air intake or discharge in technical installations, such as chillers, cooling towers, rooftops, air handling units, and ventilation or extraction systems, where conventional solutions prove insufficient against complex acoustic emissions. Unlike traditional louvers, the BASSLOCK® MP LOUVER system has been optimized to provide high acoustic attenuation without introducing changes in airflow direction, maintaining stable and efficient aerodynamic performance. Furthermore, the system is based on a physical principle of acoustic control through geometry, without relying on conventional sound-absorbing materials, which implies:
- Absence of fibrous or degradable elements over time.
- Stability of acoustic performance throughout the system’s service life.
- Operation not dependent on absorption-based dissipation mechanisms.
Thanks to its design, this system allows:
- Achievement of high attenuation levels at low frequencies, where most of the acoustic energy from HVAC equipment is concentrated.
- Global noise attenuation, including dominant tonal components.
- Operation as a real acoustic louver, combining active attenuation zones with airflow passage areas.
- Reduction of noise emissions to the exterior, facilitating regulatory compliance in sensitive environments.
Technical specifications
The BASSLOCK® MP LOUVER system has been designed to offer high constructive and aesthetic versatility, allowing its integration both in demanding industrial environments and in visible architectural solutions, such as technical façades or enclosure systems. This flexibility is key in applications where the acoustic louver becomes part of the building design, without compromising high acoustic and aerodynamic performance.
Available manufacturing materials
- Galvanized steel: robust and cost-effective solution, with high mechanical strength.
- Magnelis® (ArcelorMittal): high-durability metallic alloy with corrosion resistance 3 to 10 times higher than conventional galvanization, especially suitable for aggressive environments or prolonged outdoor exposure.
- Aluminum: ideal for lightweight structures or environments with high corrosion resistance requirements.
- Stainless steel: recommended for severe conditions (humidity, salinity, or continuous exposure).
- Treated technical wood: option oriented towards architectural integration in singular projects (TO BE CONFIRMED).

Finishes and protections
- Hot-dip galvanizing for base corrosion protection.
- Duplex systems (galvanizing + coating/painting), significantly increasing system durability.
- Powder or liquid coating (paint finish) in any RAL range, adapting to the project’s aesthetics.
- Specific anti-corrosion coatings, designed for aggressive environments:
- Saline environments (coastal areas).
- Industrial or chemical environments.
- Severe outdoor exposure.
- Fire-retardant treatments, depending on project requirements.
- Adaptable external designs (linear louver, technical louver system, or integration into ventilated façades).
Dimensions and weights
The BASSLOCK® MP LOUVER acoustic louver is developed under a fully configurable concept, allowing its geometry to be adapted to the specific requirements of each installation, both from an acoustic and aerodynamic standpoint. In urban or sensitive environments, especially on rooftops and technical façades, regulatory constraints are mainly driven by the presence of low-frequency noise and tonal components, which significantly penalize the overall sound emission level of equipment. In this context, the solution design must simultaneously resolve three key variables:
Acoustic attenuation, airflow, and pressure drop. The BASSLOCK® MP LOUVER system allows defining:
- Module dimensions (width and height).
- System depth. • Free area ratio. • Internal attenuation geometry. • Materials and finishes.
- Free area ratio.
- Internal attenuation geometry.
- Materials and finishes.
Reference configuration example
- Width: 200 mm
- Depth: 600 mm
- Free airflow passage: 50 mm
- Weight: 67 kg/m²
This configuration is aimed at achieving high attenuation at low frequencies, while maintaining a direct airflow and low pressure drop, making the BASSLOCK® MP LOUVER system a particularly suitable solution for air intake and discharge applications in HVAC installations.
Fields of application
This makes the BASSLOCK® MP LOUVER system a particularly effective solution for use as an acoustic inlet or acoustic grille in installations where it is necessary to maintain the system’s ventilation without compromising on high acoustic performance. Thanks to its optimised design, the system effectively addresses the typical noise emissions from HVAC equipment, such as chillers, evaporative cooling towers or extraction systems, reducing their noise impact without affecting the system’s operation or operating conditions.
